Playground in Israel (cont...)
The Israeli playground project began when Learning Structures was contracted by The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore last year to provide their annual Family Mission with a hands-on, meaningful playground project in Baltimore’s sister city of Ashkelon, Israel. That playground dream became a reality when the Family Mission’s 211 volunteers joined over 200 Israeli volunteers for a playground-raising day on December 26th that was orchestrated by Learning Structures’ community-built playground professionals.

First, this custom-designed playground incorporates ideas and symbolism shared by children in both Israel and Baltimore.

Second, building materials were purchased in Israel - keeping financial resources within the country and supporting Israeli businesses and economy.
And finally, families from the Ashkelon, Israel neighborhood worked side-by-side their Baltimore friends -- uniting to build a lasting resource for all of their children to enjoy for many years. Working together, overcoming communication barriers and sharing their talents, camaraderie was shared by all volunteers on site. The Lyn Stacie Getz Playground will serve as an enduring reminder of the families’ mutual achievement.
